RBE3 is the most commonly used interpolation element. Unlike the RBE2 which adds infinite stiffness to an area of a structure, the RBE3 “distributes forces” around the connected nodes, without adding any stifness to the structure. The RBE3 is a linear interpolation element often used to distribute either loading or mass.
